Las Vegas resort companies providing equipment to hospitals, law enforcement

An off-duty Metro Police officer was taken to University Medical Center on Saturday, July 20, 2019, after accidentally shooting himself in the lower body.

Las Vegas resort companies are donating personal protective equipment to hospitals and law enforcement agencies.

Caesars Entertainment spokeswoman Chelsea Ryder said the company has distributed 200,000 pairs of gloves and 4,000 protective masks to University Medical Center, and 3,500 masks to Dignity Health.

“We are incredibly grateful for the outpouring of support from companies big and small,” said Gordon Absher, spokesman for Dignity Health-St. Rose Dominican Hospitals. “St. Rose Dominican has been providing care in Southern Nevada for more than seven decades. We’re always known we can count on our neighbors when faced with adversity.”

Caesars said it has also given 150 cases of hand sanitizer and another 7,500 masks to Metro Police.

Wynn Resorts this week donated 600,000 surgical masks, 240,000 N95 equivalent respirator masks, and 500,000 pairs of medical gloves to Las Vegas area health care facilities and law enforcement agencies. The donated goods were worth about $2.5 million, according to Wynn officials.

“Our support will only continue to rise as we identify new ways to fill financial and supply chain gaps in our home communities,” Wynn CEO Matt Maddox in a statement. “We are working together with the medical community and charitable partners to ensure we are providing meaningful help where it matters most.”

At Boyd Gaming, spokesman David Strow said the company has donated 35,000 masks and 20,000 pairs of gloves to various hospitals and first responder organizations around the Las Vegas Valley.

Las Vegas Sands said Thursday it has donated 5,000 N95 masks to Metro and 100,000 surgical masks to valley medical facilities and other places of need.

In the wake of donating over 500,000 pounds of food items, MGM Resorts International, according to a company spokeswoman, is working on an additional aid package that would distribute protective medical equipment, cleaning supplies and additional food and beverage products in the valley.

As of Friday, more than 440 cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in Clark County, according to health officials. More than 100,000 cases have been confirmed in the U.S.
