Describe the services you offer: QI is a provider of armed and unarmed uniformed security services to high-end and high-visibility clientele, federal government agencies and HOAs. Our investigative division conducts background checks for clients seeking gaming licenses and interviews housekeepers, nannies, drivers and staff for residential clients.
Who are your customers? The typical customer is a discreet professional, gaming executive, federal agency or residential HOA.
What makes you unique? We turn away business customers who don’t fit our core service areas.
What’s the most important part of your job? Fiscal responsibility is always the No. 1 priority. We look to keep existing clients happy and renewed, while maintaining low employee turnover. We’ve maintained two customers for more than 10 years and one employee for more than 11 years.
Any business lessons you’d like to share from the recent recession? My personal belief is that the companies that survived were built on fundamentals and infrastructure. The companies that failed were missing one of the two. We (business owners) all had to look at ourselves over the past five years. That kind of audit will always lead to fundamentals either being present or absent.
