Local residents, companies and groups will be honored Tuesday night for their philanthropic work in Southern Nevada at VEGAS INC’s sixth annual Angel Awards.

Recipients are featured in the Giving Guide distributed with this week’s VEGAS INC. The magazine focuses on philanthropy and charitable organizations in the Las Vegas Valley.

As part of the special publication, businesses were able to sponsor nonprofit groups to be highlighted. In each spread, one page is devoted to a company's ad, while the other features a nonprofit of the business's choosing.

The Giving Guide also includes a list of every 501(c)(3) organization and charity in Southern Nevada. That's more than 2,000 groups.

Nominations for the Angel Awards were collected in May and June, and about 150 people, companies and groups were considered.

Tuesday's awards program will be emceed by Erin Ward, senior sales and marketing manager of the Hard Rock Cafe, which received a 2011 Angel Award for Philanthropic Business of the Year. This year's ceremony will be held at the JW Marriott in Summerlin.
