Founders of Lied Institute for Real Estate Studies to be honored

Founders of the Lied Institute for Real Estate Studies at UNLV will be honored in September for their contributions during the annul Lieder Awards.

The event is intended to bring together real estate professionals and community leaders to celebrate the honorees’ contributions to the development of Southern Nevada, said Nasser Daneshvary, the institute’s director.

The four honorees are the late Florence Skurski; Irene Vogel, chief executive officer of the Greater Las Vegas Association of Realtors; Jack Woodcock, founder-broker of Prudential Americana Group; and Mike Clauretie, professor of economics at UNLV.

“Our founders saw the need for real estate education in Nevada,” Daneshvary said. “They worked tirelessly to initiate and develop a successful real estate education program and to form the Lied Institute.”

The Lied Institute is housed in the UNLV College of Business and produces real estate research and supports educational programs in real estate economics and finance for students and professionals, Daneshvary said.

The institute is ranked No. 21 in the world for the number of articles published in three major specialty journals, he said.

Proceeds from the event, scheduled for 6 p.m. Sept. 30 at the Las Vegas Country Club, help fund enrichment opportunities for UNLV business students pursuing a career in real estate.

Tickets are $95 per person or $900 for a table of 10. For more information, call June Jackson at 895-4492 or e-mail her at [email protected].

Several elected officials and other dignitaries are expected to attend the event, including UNLV men’s basketball coach Dave Rice.
