With the Southern Nevada economy sputtering along, two businesses operating in Henderson have filed for bankruptcy protection in recent days.
A Chapter 7 liquidation filing was made Tuesday in U.S. Bankruptcy Court for Nevada by Smart Pools Inc., a company managed by David Klohr.
The filing listed no assets and nearly $540,000 in debt.
Creditors include vendors such as pool supply companies.
The company filing said 2010 business income of about $589,000 was down from $1.5 million in 2009.
Another bankruptcy filing, this one a Chapter 11 reorganization, was made in the same court Aug. 11 by Texas Roadrunner LLC of Houston.
Texas Roadrunner is the licensed owner of Stetson’s, a restaurant and bar with gaming at 754 S. Boulder Highway in Henderson.
The filing didn’t indicate why the company filed for bankruptcy, with its assets reported as $1.1 million vs. liabilities of nearly $657,000.
However, Clark County District Court records show landlord FM and Nancy L. Corrigan Trust filed an eviction lawsuit against Texas Roadrunner on July 22.
The bankruptcy was filed a day before a hearing on the eviction lawsuit, and likely will put that lawsuit on hold at least temporarily.
