Beverly Hillbillies’ star being sued over project he put on hold

For more than a decade now, Beverly Hillbillies star Max Baer Jr. has been hoping to build his "Jethro Bodine's Beverly Hillbillies Mansion and Casino" near Carson City.

Baer said Tuesday the idea for the themed hotel-casino is still alive, but is on hold because of difficulties in financing projects during the recession.

"Unless Warren Buffett or Kirk Kerkorian want to loan some money,'' quipped Baer, who played the naive son Jethro on the long-running TV series.

In the meantime, Baer may be dealing with some big city lawyers who sued his company Monday in Las Vegas over an allegedly broken contract.

Urban Systems -- the Innovation Group of Basalt, Colo., filed suit in Clark County District Court against Jethro's Beverly Hillbilly Development LLC, claiming it's owed $31,656 for a casino and hotel market assessment and pro-forma operating statements it says it prepared for Baer's company.

Baer declined comment on the advice of his attorney.
