Cornerstone, a ‘classic American steakhouse,’ opens at Gold Coast

Boyd Gaming’s restaurant revamp continued this week with the debut of Cornerstone steakhouse at the Gold Coast.

In a news release, Boyd described Cornerstone as a “classic American steakhouse” featuring a black-and-white decor with upscale accents like mercury glass sconces, a menu offering eight beef selections and a “liquor library” with more than 60 types of whiskey from around the world. Fine touches include a mix of vintage photographs and modern artworks.

Cornerstone is among several restaurants that have opened in the last two years at Boyd properties, part of a push by the company to diversify its offerings and expand its customer base. Amid of a trend of consumers spending less on gambling, especially millennials, the company is banking on its new restaurants to draw younger people and visitors who are more interested in new dining experiences than gaming.

Other Boyd restaurants that have opened in recent months include Ondori Asian Kitchen and Alder & Birch Cocktails and Dining at the Orleans, the Angry Butcher Steakhouse at Sam’s Town; and Brigg’s Oyster Co. at the Suncoast.
