Boyd Gaming to reopen Kansas casino this weekend

The Kansas Star Casino will reopen Saturday with slot machine availability only, according to a Boyd Gaming news release.

The casino and hotel, located just outside Wichita, Kansas, will be the first property outside of Louisiana or Mississippi to reopen following the closure of all 29 Boyd casinos in March over coronavirus concerns.

While slot machines will be available for use, table games and live poker will be closed during the initial opening phase at Kansas Star.

Boyd officials did not specify how long the first phase might last.

It was announced on Monday that several Boyd properties in Louisiana and Mississippi would reopen.

Boyd, which employs about 10,000 people in Southern Nevada, has casino properties in 10 states, including a dozen in Las Vegas.

Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak ordered all casinos in the state closed in mid-March. It’s unknown when they will be allowed to reopen.
