Fighting the good fight: T. Windfeldt

Don’t let the lab coats and scrubs fool you. Those trappings might be functional, but they camouflage one of the greatest secret weapons a medical professional can possess — the heart of a warrior.

Health Care Quarterly asked the folks on the frontlines of health care to think about their work like its a battle — because it often is. What is their biggest foe, and — most important — what are the tools in their arsenal to help stay ahead?

I believe that insurance companies need to go back to their primary purpose — helping people. Whether they have two employees or 5,000, business owners in Southern Nevada want to improve the health and wellness of their employees, and offer affordable health insurance. However, in Clark County, a place where more than 2 million people live and work, we are essentially underserved in terms of the number of carriers for companies to choose from.

We can combat this by insurance companies, such as Hometown Health, making it their mission to identify and expand into needed areas. The goal should be to make a genuinely positive difference in the health and well-being of those who live in our community.
