Monia Kazemeini, a UNLV Ph.D. candidate and Las Vegas Business Academy scholarship recipient, received the Inaugural College of Engineering Scholar Award given to a graduate student who published in the top technical journals in their fields. Kazemeini also received the Roy G. Post Award recognizing extremely accomplished and driven students in the radioactive waste field who excel inside and outside of their academic role.

Jennifer Stevens was named College of Southern Nevada’s Regents’ Scholar by the Nevada System of Higher Education’s Board of Regents. Stevens is a single mother of two who’s studying biology. She has maintained a 3.73 GPA while working full time. The award includes a $5,000 cash stipend, and is based on academics, leadership, service contributions and the recipient’s potential for continued success. In addition to the Regents’ Scholar award, the board also honored two CSN professors: Mark Wherry, director of vocal music, was awarded the Creative Activities Award and Cris Aguilar, a surgical technology instructor, was awarded the Teaching Award.

The International Gaming Standards Association announced its new board of directors, including Roman Czubak, Novomatic AG, who was re-elected chair; Earle G. Hall, CEO of Axes.ai, was elected as vice chair; and Paul Burns, senior manager strategic gaming development at the Atlantic Lottery Corporation was elected as treasurer. Returning board members include Adrian Marcu, vice president of architecture for International Game Technology; Nimish Purohit Sr., director of technical compliance at Aristocrat Technologies; Simon McKeown, technical compliance manager, Microgaming; and Syed Hussain, chief information officer, State of Oregon Lottery. And joining IGSA’s board are Bala Kuthyar, vice president of engineering at Scientific Games, and Martin Pedak, director of technical compliance at Playtech.

Harsch Investment Properties promoted Steven Nemer to assistant vice president of leasing and Amanda McCauley to vice president of operations and leasing. Nemer joined Harsch in 2016 in the manager-in-training program and is now responsible for overseeing the leasing in the company’s North Las Vegas portfolio, which encompasses 4 million square feet of flex-industrial space. McCauley has over 20 years of experience in the real estate industry, working in both residential and commercial real estate. She joined Harsch in 2013 and is responsible for the leasing and management of the entire Las Vegas portfolio, totaling over 10 million square feet.

Sholly Walker of EXIT Realty Number One received the company’s #1 Realtor Award.

NAIOP, the Commercial Real Estate Development Association, honored Southern Nevada chapter executive director Katrina Bruce with the Outstanding Contribution by a Chapter Executive award for a large chapter. Bruce was recognized for success in education, special events, membership, legislative advocacy and leadership.

Erica Aulino and Breanna Lara of Colliers International Las Vegas earned their Accredited Commercial Manager certificate from the Institute of Real Estate Management, an international association for the advancement of real estate management. Aulino and Lara, both in the property management division at Colliers, completed several courses that cover the fundamentals of commercial property management and ethics to obtain the certification.

Jeff Dalton, branch manager at Primary Residential Mortgage, was named a 2019 Top Originator by Mortgage Executive Magazine. The national publication recognizes the top 1% originators in America annually.

Nigro Construction completed multiple medical projects at the San Martin Medical Center, including significant tenant improvements for Advanced Orthopedic Physical Therapy and the Las Vegas Institute of Advanced Surgery.

PureStar, provider of laundry services and linen management to the hospitality industry, appointed Gail Mandel as executive chair of its board of directors. Mandel has more than 25 years of management and financial experience in the hospitality industry and serves as managing director of Focused Point Ventures, a business advisory and consulting services firm.
