Contractor of the Year Awards: Diverse Subcontractor of the Year, Live Electric

Live Electric

As a diverse business itself, Live Electric makes a calculated effort to buy from, contract with and collaborate with other diverse business enterprises—using 20% diverse companies this past year to complete its 26 projects.

Live Electric is a woman-owned small business founded in 2014 by Las Vegas native Heather Avila. A commercial and industrial electrical contracting firm, Live Electric offers a full range of high-, medium- and low-voltage electrical contracting services, and provides service for emergency and routine maintenance calls. It is Southern Nevada’s only WOSB and DBE-certified electrical contractor that is signatory to IBEW local 357 & 396.

This year, Live Electric received its first diversity inclusion contracting opportunity from The PENTA Building Group and Caesars Entertainment through the Arrive and Thrive Program. This program gave Live Electric the chance to mentor under Bombard Electric on its first large commercial project, the Caesars Forum Convention Center.

Live Electric has also completed several noteworthy diversity projects in the past, including The Las Vegas Stadium Project in accordance with the SB1 provisions, under Gephart-Morse and Mortenson-McCarthy Joint Venture, and Phase 2 of the Las Vegas Convention Center Expansion Project in accordance with the SB1 provision, under Sturgeon Electric, Bombard Electric and Turner/Martin-Harris Joint Venture.
