The Public Education Foundation Inc

OUR MISSION
The Public Education Foundation works to bring about transformational change in teaching, learning and education leadership in Nevada in order to prepare all students to thrive in an ever-changing world.

OUR GOALS

  • Create a network of leaders with the capacity to solve the problems harming Nevada’s public education system

  • Identify and incubate promising ideas

  • Increase accountability and data-driven decision making in Nevada school districts

  • Improve the high school graduation rate and college readiness, and increase access to postsecondary opportunities

  • Provide educators with resources to support creative, engaging and results-driven instruction

  • Promote family engagement and early learning in high-need communities

FUNDRAISING OPPORTUNITIES
The Public Education Foundation, celebrating its 25th year of service, develops and implements many initiatives and programs, including the Leadership Institute of Nevada; Early Learning, Literacy & Family Engagement Initiative; Scholarship Program; Teacher EXCHANGE®; We R Community; and Artists 4 Kidz.

The Foundation holds several fundraising events throughout the year and conducts an annual campaign. The Education Hero Award Gala in September honors individuals who have made extraordinary contributions to public education, children and the community. In the spring, the Foundation hosts an annual Tee-Up For Kids charity golf tournament.

Throughout the year, the Foundation works with businesses to host individualized community events.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Some of the Foundation’s current volunteer needs include helping at our Teacher EXCHANGE, which collects office supplies, books, convention overruns and other surplus materials — often headed for landfills — and distributes them to teachers for use in the classroom. Volunteering at the Teacher EXCHANGE could include distribution of books; special events; inventory and warehousing expertise; writing; technology and Web programming; and administrative work.

In addition, volunteers are needed to assist with office work, and former educators are needed for reading grants, scholarship applications and family literacy support.

GIVING OPPORTUNITIES
You can support us through personal, corporate or planned giving. In-kind donations can be featured at our auction during our annual Education Hero Award Gala.

You can provide the gift of higher education by creating a scholarship. Last year alone, The Public Education Foundation awarded more than $1 million in scholarships. You can create a legacy gift.

Our Teacher EXCHANGE accepts donations of new and reusable materials, office supplies, surplus materials and much more. Please contact us for the full range of opportunities.

SERVICE AREA
The Public Education Foundation serves children and teachers by establishing public-private partnerships, advancing district-wide improvement efforts, empowering teachers and students, leveraging resources and ensuring accountability.
