Las Vegas Strip hotel-casino executive Larry King didn’t have to look far for a new job when the Sahara announced March 11 it would be closing on May 16.
Riviera Holdings Corp., owner of the Riviera hotel-casino down the street from the Sahara and owner of a casino in Colorado, last week announced King, 49, had been hired as chief financial officer, vice president–finance and treasurer.
The new owners of Riviera Holdings, which is emerging from bankruptcy, said King would succeed Phillip Simons, who resigned from those positions effective April 19.
Simons is staying on with the company and its subsidiaries in an advisory role through April 30.
Riviera Holdings in a regulatory filing said King would earn an annual base salary of $240,000 and that he is a Certified Public Accountant with more than 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry.
King served as vice president of finance for the Sahara between June 2008 and April.
Earlier, he was with Tropicana Entertainment and the Isle of Capri Biloxi hotel-casino in Mississippi.
