AAA has started to release the winners of its prestigious Five Diamond Award for 2012, and at least seven Las Vegas hotels have been named to the list.

Las Vegas Sands announced today that both the Venetian and Palazzo have received the award. This marks the fifth consecutive year for the Venetian and third for the Palazzo.

Wynn Resorts also released today that Wynn and Encore Las Vegas have been awarded Five Diamonds, the sixth for Wynn and third for Encore

Three MGM Resorts International hotels have been named to the list so far: the Sky Suites at Aria, Sky Lofts at MGM Grand and the Bellagio, which received the award for the 11th year in a row. The Sky Suites at Aria won last year during its first year open, and the Sky Lofts at MGM Grand have been on the list since 2007.

On the Five Diamond restaurant list, Le Cirque and Picasso at Bellagio, and Joel Robuchon at MGM Grand were honored. The three restaurants are all repeat recipients.

AAA typically has released the full roster of winners in November, but starting last year, the automotive and travel club has allowed hotels and restaurants to announce the achievement as they are notified. More Las Vegas hotels and restaurants are expected to be added to the list.

The AAA Five Diamond Award is one of the most coveted awards in the North American hospitality industry. According to AAA, Five Diamond-ranked hotels represent 0.5 percent of the more than 31,000 AAA-approved hotels in the country.
