New art house bookstore opens at the Cosmopolitan

British art book publisher Phaidon Press opened its only U.S. pop-up store this week at the Cosmopolitan.

The temporary shop is located in the resort’s P3 Studio and will remain open through mid-January. It sells books on a wide variety of subjects, including art, architecture, photography, performing arts, culture, cooking, fashion, film and travel. It also carries several titles for children.

The partnership between the resort and the art house press is a good fit, as the Cosmopolitan strives to be a visual trendsetter and attract artistically minded, bohemian customers. The hotel-casino features an eclectic display of public art and uses technology to highlight established and up-and-coming artists’ work.

Phaidon Press started 88 years ago in Vienna. It now has offices in London, Paris, Berlin, Barcelona, Milan, New York and Tokyo and publishes in six languages.

The store will be open 2 to 10 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and noon to 10 p.m. Fridays through Sundays.
