Culinary Dropout restaurant to open at Hard Rock

Fox Restaurant Concepts, of Scottsdale, Ariz., said Wednesday it was entering the Las Vegas market with a concept called Culinary Dropout at the Hard Rock.

The 9,000-square-foot venue will open this summer near the casino floor and adjacent to the pool. It will include a patio seating 320 people.

An opening date has yet to be announced for the restaurant, which features a uniform-free staff.

The company describes the concept as both ''hip and rebel'' and ''soulful and relaxed.''

The Culinary Dropout concept in Scottsdale ''has already made a name for itself as a day-drinking and late-night destination,'' the company said in a statement.

"We believe the 24/7 culture of Las Vegas will welcome the addition of Culinary Dropout. The atmosphere of the Hard Rock Hotel complements the hip but never pretentious vibe of Culinary Dropout," said company CEO Sam Fox, a five-time James Beard Foundation semifinalist for outstanding restaurateur.

Fox said the Culinary Dropout bar snacks include house-made pretzels and its menu includes pub-style appetizers, salads, sandwiches and antipasto meats, cheeses and vegetables.

Fox currently operates 12 restaurants in Arizona, California, Colorado, Kansas and Texas.
