Cox names new Las Vegas general manager

Cox Communications, a big player in the Southern Nevada economy with some 1,300 employees, on Thursday announced the appointment of a new Las Vegas general manager.

Atlanta-based Cox said Marilyn Burrows, the company’s current senior vice president and general manager in Las Vegas since 2009, has been promoted to senior vice president and general manager of the company’s Central Region, which covers Arkansas, Kansas and Nebraska.

Duffy Leone will serve as the new senior vice president and general manager in Las Vegas effective Jan. 16.

Leone is currently senior vice president of operations for Cox’s recently unified California system. Earlier, he was senior vice president and general manager for Cox’s Orange Coast system, which includes the Orange County, Santa Barbara and Palos Verdes markets in California.

"As Cox continues to evolve its operations to a more regional structure it is necessary to have general managers in place with proven experience and the ability to execute on an increasingly larger scale," Jill Campbell, senior vice president of operations at Cox, said in a statement. "Marilyn and Duffy have provided consistent leadership throughout their careers and we are confident they will leverage their decades of cable and telecom expertise management expertise to drive outstanding results in their expanded roles."
