Mexican airline launches service to McCarran

One of Mexico's fastest-growing air carriers will begin twice-weekly service geared to Mexican leisure travelers between Mexico City and Las Vegas later this month.

McCarran International Airport will become the fifth U.S. gateway for Interjet, an airline based at Mexico City's secondary airport at Toluca, when it begins service Nov. 15.

Flights will operate Thursdays and Sundays, leaving Toluca at 7:50 p.m. and arriving in Las Vegas at 9:45 p.m. The return flight will leave McCarran at 11:40 p.m., arriving in Toluca at 5:10 a.m. the next day.

Interjet flies 150-passenger Airbus A320 twin-engine jets on the route. The airline also offers some unusual passenger perks -- external cameras to allow passengers to watch take-offs and landings, onboard lavatories for women only and 20 percent discounts to senior citizen passengers.

Interjet, which has a fleet of 35 A320s, also offers connecting flights within Mexico and to San Jose, Costa Rica; Guatemala and Havana. In the United States, it also flies to Miami, New York, San Antonio and Orange County, Calif.
