New CEO taking over next month at MountainView Hospital

MountainView Hospital

A top executive at Las Vegas’ Sunrise Hospital & Medical Center has been named CEO of sister facility MountainView Hospital.

Chris Mowan has been chief operating officer at Sunrise for the past four years and oversaw several projects there, including the renovation of the hospital’s adult medical surgical and intensive-care unit floors, as well as the rehabilitation unit.

He takes charge of MountainView on Sept. 1, hospital officials announced today. He replaces Will Wagnon, who has led the hospital for five years but is leaving to become CEO of affiliate hospitals in Richmond, Va.

MountainView and Sunrise are owned by Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Holdings, the largest for-profit hospital chain in the country. In the valley, the company also owns Sunrise Children’s and Southern Hills hospitals.

Mowan has worked for HCA for about 18 years and his promotion comes amid other leadership changes at the company.

HCA announced Monday that Chairman and CEO Richard Bracken is retiring. He plans to step down as chief executive on Dec. 31 and will remain chairman until Dec. 31, 2014.

The next chief executive will be HCA’s current president and chief financial officer, R. Milton Johnson.
