A new contract ratification vote is scheduled for Sunday and Monday by Yellow-Checker-Star taxi drivers represented by the Industrial Technical Professional Employees union.
The union and company management went back to the bargaining table in mid-December after a threatened strike was averted.
A federal mediator is overseeing negotiations. A union representative has said that the two sides have struggled to reach agreement on pay issues, and talks were extended through Jan. 31 after union members overwhelming rejected management’s last offer in November.
Neither side has indicated specifics of the contract and what changes were made in the new proposal under consideration.
The two largest cab operations in Clark County have been in contract negotiations with unions since September.
Yellow-Checker-Star and the Frias Transportation Group collectively represent about 55 percent of the cabs on the road. Frias has been at odds with the United Steelworkers union over a new contract.
