Floating off-Strip dining room to debut this summer

Construction of a dining room that will be hoisted 180 feet in the air began today with officials plunging spoon-shaped shovels in a mound of mulch.

“Today we officially break ground,” said Kelley Jones, a partner in the "Dinner in the Sky Las Vegas" project. “To symbolize this, we literally have some spoons. I don’t know of anything better.”

Dinner in the Sky suspends thrill-seeking foodies almost 200 feet off the ground as they eat a gourmet three-course meal surrounded by panoramic views of the Strip.

The project is expected to open this summer on a plot of land near West Tropicana and Polaris avenues. Dinners will start at $290 a person.
