Comic Oasis, which had been a popular comic-book retailer in the Cheyenne Commons at 3121 N. Rainbow Blvd., closed in mid-October. However, the store’s owner, Derrick Taylor, has an eye on the near future.

Taylor said Torpedo Comics, which will have an impressive array of decades-old comic books, is aiming for a January grand opening at 8775 Lindell Road, Building H, Suite 150. The store is the brainchild of business partners John Dolmayan and Taylor, Taylor said. Dolmayan is best known as the drummer for System of a Down.

Comic Oasis fans poured onto Facebook to mourn the closure of the store, which had been owned by Taylor since 2004. Taylor said information on Torpedo Comics’ grand opening will be available on Facebook.
