Openings & Closings:

Hats off to new shop at the Linq; Double Barrel makes its debut

The Double Barrel

Hat maker and retailer Goorin Bros. is bringing its vintage charm to town.

The family-owned business, which hopes to achieve a “neighborhood hat shop” experience at each of its stores, opened a location last week at the Linq.

Elsewhere in town, the Blind Pig offers artisanal foods and Double Barrel Roadhouse opens at the Monte Carlo.

Look Style Society beckons beauty shop patrons, and chocolate lovers say goodbye to Max Brenner for now.

      Goorin Bros.

San Francisco-based hat maker Goorin Bros. opened Wednesday at the Linq.

Occupying a 600-square-foot space, the new location offers everything from wide-brimmed classic fedoras to American-made tweed flat caps. The store attempts to create an old hat shop aesthetic with mahogany cabinetry and authentic vintage memorabilia.

The Goorin Bros. shop is open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12 a.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

    • Double Barrel Roadhouse

Double Barrel Roadhouse opened for business Friday at the Monte Carlo.

The restaurant, bar and live music venue, which refers to itself as an “authentic roadhouse experience,” serves up craft cocktails and a Southern-inspired menu in a 12,000-square-foot, indoor-outdoor space.

Double Barrel is open from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 4 a.m. Friday and Saturday.

    • Popsicle fondue at Max Brenner: Chocolate by the Bald Man

      Max Brenner

Chocolate bar and restaurant Max Brenner: Chocolate by the Bald Man will close March 30.

According to a representative, an expiring lease is to blame for the closure of the dining spot within the Forum Shops at Caesars Palace. However, the brand is “actively engaged in discussions on a new location” in Las Vegas.

Any new location would feature a chocolate bar but would likely forego the full restaurant concept.

Max Brenner opened in the Forum Shops in 2010.

    • The Blind Pig

      The Blind Pig

Restaurant, market and lounge the Blind Pig opened Feb. 18 in Panorama Towers.

Located at 4515 Dean Martin Drive, Las Vegas, the counter-order eatery offers a full menu and a market with provisions including house-made baked goods, pastas, oils and more.

The dining spot emphasizes its speakeasy theme, which inspired its décor and lounge.

The restaurant and market are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., and the lounge is open in the early evening until about 2 a.m., depending upon demand.

    • Redken's blowout specialist Sam Villa, working the Hair Show at Look Style Society.

      Look Style Society

Look Style Society, a comprehensive beauty center, has arrived in Town Square.

The 9,000-square-foot beauty haven, which opened Feb. 21, offers spa, tanning, hair, nail and makeup services.

Look also includes a café and even more services, and there are still plans to expand the beauty destination and its offerings in spring. The location is open from 7 a.m.-10 p.m. daily.
