Parking no longer free at these downtown Las Vegas properties

Boyd Gaming

Drivers who enjoyed free parking downtown at Main Street Station or the California now have to reach for their wallets.

But the new fees won’t set them back too much.

Boyd Gaming Corp., the resorts’ owner, is charging daily rates of $3 Sunday-Thursday and $5 Friday-Saturday to park.

The fees took effect Feb. 1. Before that, parking was typically free, spokesman David Strow said.

Boyd started charging to park because customers were having problems finding spots, he said.

The policy has several exemptions. Those who can still park for free include hotel guests; diners who spend at least $5 at a Main Street Station or California restaurant; and gamblers who wager $5 average bets at the tables for at least 30 minutes of play.

Boyd’s other downtown hotel, the Fremont, has valet parking and spots for hotel guests but no publicly available garage or surface lot.
