The fast-food chicken restaurant chain Chick-fil-A said today that it plans to open eight to 10 restaurants in Nevada in the next five years.

The company's first restaurant in the state will open in the Las Vegas area in late 2016 or early 2017, Chick-fil-A said.

The chain did not provide locations or say whether its plans include a building at 460 N. Stephanie St. in Henderson. The company had an item on the agenda for Thursday's meeting of the Henderson Planning Commission after filing for a conditional-use permit and a design review for the vacant building, formerly a Cox Communications office.

In April, Landlord Julius Ballardini told the Las Vegas Sun that Chick-fil-A was in the process of buying a vacant 5,100-square-foot building near Galleria at Sunset mall.
