H&M sets sights on Summerlin; brew pub eyes new locale

Shoppers and workers make their way along the walkways during the Grand Opening of Downtown Summerlin on Thursday, October 9, 2014.

Attention, fashionistas. Downtown Summerlin will soon welcome a popular, trendy clothing store boasting low prices.

For beer lovers, plans to construct a local tavern are brewing. Golden Entertainment is opening a location for its first pub that will house about 3,000 beer barrels each year. Meanwhile, Las Vegans unable to have children will now have another location to visit for a chance at having a family.

Elsewhere, an Italian eatery closed its only remaining Las Vegas location after being in business for 15 years.

    • H&M opened a 55,000-square-foot store at the Forum Shops in 2010.

H&M will open a store in Downtown Summerlin, adding third Las Vegas location.

The clothing company did not provide an exact opening date.

The Swedish retailer said the clothing shop will be about 20,000 square feet, about half the size of the largest H&M in the world, which is headquartered at the Forum Shops.

In 2014, it was reported that the Stockholm-based company signed a lease to open a location at Tivoli Village’s expansion site. But earlier this month, Tivoli’s general manager, Curt Fickeisen, said in a statement that H&M is not part of the expansion plans.

    • PT's Pub

Golden Entertainment, which operates PT’s taverns, will open its first brew pub at the site that used to house Tenaya Creek Brewery, which is now located downtown.

The joint, which will be located at 3101 N. Tenaya Way, will contain about 3,000 barrels each year and will offer seven house beers. It is set to open by the end of the first quarter.

Additionally, a PT’s Ranch will open at 6450 S. Durango Drive, near Sunset Road, and a PT’s Gold at Whitney Ranch Drive and Sunset Road.

    • Red Rock Fertility Center

Red Rock Fertility Center hosted a grand opening Saturday to celebrate its new 12,800-square-foot facility.

The clinic will be located at 9120 W. Russell Road, near the 215 Beltway.

The practice first arrived in Las Vegas in 2008, offering services to wanna-be parents, especially those with less than a 5 percent chance of pregnancy.

The new location will be twice the size of the original venue and will contain a new in vitro fertilization laboratory, as well as a new ambulatory surgery center.

To date, Red Rock Fertility Center has helped welcome over 1,000 babies, according to news release.

    • Fazoli’s

Fazoli’s closed its only Las Vegas location Feb. 8, 15 years to the day when it first opened.

The restaurant was located on North Town Center Drive in Summerlin.

Before the recession, the 28-year-old chain boasted about 300 restaurants nationwide, each employing at least 30 people.

Today, there are 217 Fazoli’s that are largely located in the Midwest and South. While the Kentucky chain reportedly said it would like to have a restaurant in Las Vegas, chains like Panera Bread, which has several locations throughout the valley, have proven to be tough competition for the eatery.
