Planned signs for Wynn Plaza retail space already getting makeover

Wynn Resorts' newly consttructed shopping center will attempt to change its signage plan with Clark County to a more subdued version.

The $54 million Wynn Plaza was approved in 2016 for a comprehensive sign package to include 10 animated wall signs along the north, south and west elevations of the 75,000-square-foot shopping center, which is located south and west of the Wynn parking garage on Las Vegas Boulevard. It will open this fall.

But Wynn officials couldn’t settle on animated signs that were durable and sufficiently visible, and instead will ask the Clark County zoning commission on Wednesday to approve a new sign proposal.

The plan calls for 11 rectangular shaped and internally lit wall signs that range from 20.5 to 28 square feet in size, meeting documents read.

Additionally, 14 other signs would be installed on the north, south and west elevations of the shopping center, between 22 to 42 square feet in size, and made of bronze letters with silhouette lighting. Tenants of the shopping center requested the signage to advertise that they’re located inside the center, the document reads.

A request will also be made to add the word “Plaza” under two previously approved wall signs featuring only the word “Wynn” on the south and west elevations of the shopping center. The signs would be 4.5 and 10.5 square feet in size and feature bronze letters with silhouette lighting.

The signs are an important attention-grabbing device that increase the visual experience for visitors to Wynn, the documents stated. The proposed signs are set to be similar in design as other signs already on the property, and are in line with other resort hotels in the area.

Wynn officials aren’t commenting ahead of Wednesday’s meeting.
