Tami Cowden is chair, Seth Floyd is vice chair, Bradley Schrager is secretary and Puneet Garg is treasurer of the State Bar of Nevada’s new Appellate Litigation Section, formed to enhance the role and skills of lawyers who practice appellate law. Cowden is with the law firm of Greenberg Traurig LLP. Floyd practices with McDonald Carano Wilson LLP. Schrager is with Jones Vargas, and Garg practices with Gordon Silver. The Board of Governors of the State Bar of Nevada officially approved the new section at its April meeting.

Frank Marretti is a broker in the investment division and Gabe Telles is a broker in the gaming group of Colliers International-Las Vegas. Marretti most recently had been managing director of Lucescu Realty and owner of Cielo Properties, a Las Vegas development company. Marretti served as a broker at Colliers International from 1998 to 2001. Prior to joining Colliers, Telles worked in the brokerage division of CBRE Inc. and served as vice president of acquisitions for RMI Investment Services LLC.

James P. Kane is president and CEO of NPL Construction Co., Southwest Gas Corporation’s wholly owned pipeline construction subsidiary. With the appointment, Kane relinquished his position as president of Southwest Gas Corp. and its utility operations. Southwest’s current CEO, Jeffrey W. Shaw, has assumed Kane’s previous duties.

Olson, bankruptcy and creditor/debtor rights; Tyler R. Andrews, Leslie S. Godfrey, Eric Swanis, Mark E. Ferrario, Philip M. Hymanson and Thomas F. Kummer, business litigation; Michael J. Bonner and John N. Brewer, business/corporate; Gregg R. Vermeys and Jim Mace, real estate; Mark G. Tratos, Peter H. Ajemian and Laraine M.I. Burrell, intellectual property litigation. Bonner, Ferrario, Kummer and Olson were recognized on the “Top 100 Mountain States” list. Ajemian, Andrews, Burrell and Godfrey were selected “Rising Stars.” Six attorneys from the law firm also were recognized in the publication, “2012 Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business.” Those recognized were: Brewer, corporate/commercial; Bonner, corporate/commercial, gaming and licensing; Ferrario and Kummer, general commercial litigation; and Mace and Vermeys, real estate.

Dixie van de Flier Davis will retire Aug. 15 as executive director of the Adoption Exchange Board of Directors and assume the title of founder, president emerita. Kate Trujillo, who previously had been executive vice president, will replace her as executive director. Davis and colleagues conceived the Adoption Exchange when she was an adoption supervisor. She has helped connect thousands of foster children with families during more than 30 years with the organization.
