      Bart Patterson, Monica Coburn and Amy Maier have joined the board of directors for Dress for Success Southern Nevada, a local affiliate of the international nonprofit that promotes economic independence for disadvantaged women. Dress for Success Southern Nevada provides local women professional attire, a support network and career development tools to help them thrive in work and life. In its first three years, the charity has assisted nearly 300 women in the valley. Patterson is president of Nevada State College, Coburn works at Wells Fargo Bank, and Maier works for B&P Advertising and Public Relations.

    • Meadows Corporation of Las Vegas has acquired two registered investment adviser firms as part of a national acquisition plan. Meadows acquired Landmark Global Advisors of Las Vegas, headed by Jacqueline Thornhill (who also serves as president of the Financial Planning Association of Nevada) and Rutherford Investment Management of Portland, Ore.

      Lindsay Williams has been hired as a market development manager for CenturyLink in Nevada. Williams will identify growth opportunities for CenturyLink and coordinate community investment, sponsorship and partnership programs. She also will help guide the company’s local marketing and media efforts.

    • Las Vegas City Manager Betsy Fretwell has been elected to the board of directors for the National Academy of Public Administration. She is one of 44 fellows.

    • Trish Nash, an agent with EXIT Realty Unlimited in Henderson, won a Platinum Award from EXIT Realty Corp. International for closing 100-plus transactions from July 1, 2011, to June 30.

      Joseph Vassallo

      Joseph M. Vassallo, president of Paragon Pools, was named the Association of Pool and Spa Professionals’ Builders Council “2012 Certified Building Professional of the Year.” The annual award is given to someone who has advanced the pool building profession through outstanding achievement and dedication. A veteran of the pool industry since 1988, Vassallo has worked with state and federal legislators to develop positive working relationships between building and code officials and the pool and spa industry.

    • The Latin Chamber of Commerce recently elected its board of directors. Members chosen for two-year positions include Edgar Patino, of NV Energy; Juergen Barbusca, of Cox Communications; Maria Jose Gatti, of MGM Resorts International; Mariana Bengochea Johnson, of City National Bank; Maximiliano Couvillier, of Lionel, Sawyer & Collins; and Ramón Torres, of Epicure Group International. New one-year board members include Andres Estrada, of Outdoor Promotions; Debbie Holleran, of CenturyLink; Eddie Galaz; Elizabeth Gallagher, of Gallagher Group International; Isauro Gonzalez, of U.S. Bank; Jacqueline Beato, of Caesars Entertainment; and Santana Garcia, of the city of Henderson.       Dr. Brian W. Murphy, chief medical officer of Nathan Adelson Hospice, recently earned a “Fellow of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine” designation. Murphy is a member of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization and the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine. He also was appointed to the National Board for Hospice Medical Director Certification.

    • Motivational speaker and workplace mediator Steven Hollingsworth will host a new online radio show called “All in a Day’s Work,” during which experts will discuss workplace issues. The program airs 1 p.m. Saturdays at vegasallnetradio.com.
