Vince Illia
Vince Illia, of Peterbilt Motors Co., has been named one of the top 100 salesmen in North America for 2012. He was the only Nevadan to earn the honor. Illia is the truck sales manager for Peterbilt of Las Vegas.
The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority was among five tourism industry organizations recognized last month at the Las Vegas Hospitality Association’s 2012 Distinction Awards. LVCVA President and CEO Rossi Ralenkotter accepted the Business of the Year award. LVCVA board member and Mandalay Bay President and Chief Operating Officer Chuck Bowling received the Industry Leader award. Debby Jacobs, of Destination by Design, Lynda Richardson, of the Tropicana, and the late Larry Lee, co-founder of Encore Productions, also were recognized.
Accounting firm Piercy Bowler Taylor and Kern announced that five new auditors joined the company. Josh Ahuna, Lauren Carpenter, Drew Ferguson, Scott Johnson and Cameron Romney will be audit associates. Carpenter is a Brigham Young University-Idaho graduate with master of accountancy and master of business degrees from Southern Utah University. Ferguson has a bachelor’s degree from Dixie State College and a master of accountancy degree from Southern Utah. Johnson is a graduate of Western Kentucky University with a bachelor of science in accounting. Romney will graduate with his master’s of accountancy from Southern Utah in December 2012. Ahuna is a UNLV graduate.

Dr. Harry Rosenberg will retire Dec. 14 as president of Roseman University of Health Sciences. Dr. Renee Coffman, co-founder of the university and executive vice president of quality assurance and intercampus consistency, was appointed the next president.

Commercial Alliance Las Vegas honored local journalist Tony Illia, founder and publisher of www.PowerBrokerConfidential.com, for his coverage of commercial real estate in Southern Nevada. He received an award last month at CALV’s seventh annual educational symposium at the Gold Coast.
Project 150, a local organization dedicated to helping homeless and displaced students at 17 area high schools, earned its 501(c)(3) designation. Don Purdue and Patrick Spargur founded Project 150 in December 2011.

Dr. Rex F. Liu, owner of Family and Cosmetic Dentistry, was awarded the Best Business Award for 2012 by the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce. The award recognized Liu’s dental practice for 22 years of service and community contributions.
Michael and Fred Hillerby have joined the law firm of Kaempfer Crowell. Michael Hillerby, the director of legislative affairs, joins Robert Crowell, Mark Fiorentino and Jennifer Lazovich as principal members of the firm’s legislative affairs practice. Hillerby previously served as chief of staff to former Nevada Gov. Kenny Guinn and has been lobbying in Nevada since 1991. Fred Hillerby joins the frim as a senior member of the legislative affairs practice. He brings 35 years of experience as a Nevada lobbyist. Prior to forming Hillerby & Associates in 1988, he served for 13 years as the president of the Nevada Hospital Association.
