Contractors are putting the finishing touches on 400 refurbished hotel rooms at the Gold Coast.

The rooms, which are expected to reopen in the next two weeks, feature new wall coverings, carpets, blackout drapes and furniture, including armoires, dressers and desks.

"We felt it was time to reinvest in our product, providing our guests with a modern, boutique-like hotel experience,” said Kerrie Burke, vice president and general manager of the Gold Coast, which is owned by Boyd Gaming.

Beds have new mattresses, comforters and pillows. In the bathrooms, there are new quartz countertops and fixtures, with porcelain tile on the shower walls and floors. Living areas now include digital temperature controls, high-definition televisions and new alarm clocks.

The next phase of the renovation, scheduled to begin this summer, will include installing new carpeting in Gold Coast's 87,000-square-foot casino and replacing all of its slot stands and chairs.
