Fabulous Sin City Rollergirls Begin Their 12th Season; Free Exhibition Kick-Off Event to Be Held February 4, 2017

LAS VEGAS (January 24, 2017) – The Fabulous Sin City Rollergirls (SCRG) are proud to announce the start of its 12th season of operations in the Las Vegas Valley with our annual Black vs Orange Scrimmage, a free exhibition event that will be held at West Flamingo Park on February 4, 2017 at 12:00 p.m.
This annual event kicks off an active travel team season for our All-Star and our F.A.S.T. (Future All-Stars in Training) rosters as they prepare for regional and national competition within the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA). This kick-off scrimmage will feature two mixed teams comprised of the current active roster of all SCRG skaters. Six new league skaters make their debut this season with SCRG. Future event dates for our travel team season will be announced shortly to the general public.
“If you’ve never taken the opportunity to watch the Fabulous Sin City Rollergirls, this is a perfect opportunity to do so. We love our kickoff scrimmage because it’s out in the public and allows our league to highlight our newest skaters and meet new fans.” – Lindsay Testai, SCRG President
Our long-standing charity partner for this event is Socks & Blankets for the Homeless. This organization works primarily to provide socks and blankets to individuals without shelter in the Las Vegas Valley so that they can stay warm during colder months. Attendees are encouraged to donate new & gently used blankets and socks as we work to help assist those Las Vegans who need it the most.
“The Sin City Rollergirls have been supporting our cause since 2012 and as a result have helped hundreds (possibly thousands) of Las Vegas homeless residents. There simply are no words to describe the gratitude we have for these ladies.” – Samantha French, Founder, Socks & Blankets for the Homeless
Fans interested in attending this event can learn more on our website, sincityrollergirls.com, or via our public Facebook event page. As this is a public event, seating is limited and fans are encouraged to bring a folding chair or alternate seating options with them.

About the Fabulous Sin City Rollergirls
The Fabulous Sin City Rollergirls began as a twinkle in the eye of a handful of Las Vegas locals in 2005 who were interested in bringing the sport of flat-track roller derby to Las Vegas. Thousands of laps and hundreds of bruises later, over 50 league members call SCRG their home. Our league is skater-owned and operated. We do our own marketing, accounting, and management internally, utilizing the diverse skills of our skaters and volunteers. All proceeds from our events are recycled back into our league, with a portion always going to a charity partner. Our league consists of two travel teams: the All-Stars, and our F.A.S.T. team (Future All-Stars in Training) who represent Las Vegas internationally; four home teams: the Notorious VIP, Tommy Gun Terrors, Hoover Damned, and the Flying Aces; and a training program affectionately called our "Fresh Meat." SCRG is a proud member of the Women's Flat-Track Derby Association (WFTDA), the national governing body for our sport. Learn more at sincityrollergirls.com.
