Las Vegas, Nevada – March 2-4, 2012-At the Alexis Park Resort this weekend the
Association of Women Martial Arts Instructors will be holding its annual conference,
“Sharing Our Knowledge with the World.” What marks the historic significance of this
event is that for the first time the AWMAI will be hosting a Hall of Fame induction. The
qualifications for this inaugural event are very specific. To be considered for induction,
the awardees must have a minimum of thirty years in the Martial Arts – and be female!
While the non-profit organization welcomes women of all ages and disciplines, this
particular event is honoring the Grande Dames of the Arts. Collectively, there will be 32
women with over 1,000 years of knowledge being honored at this spectacular. It will be
a weekend of networking with other women, a chance to re-energize, refresh and renew.
Oh, yes, and a chance to train with some kick-ass Masters and Grand Masters of the
Martial Arts!
This weekend is the culmination of other smaller events sponsored by the group over the
past year. It is no surprise to discover that the common theme of all these events focuses
on helping others – whether it is a training session for ‘at risk’ young people or a canned
food drive for those with more material needs – community is key.
The Association of Women Martial Arts Instructors (AWMAI.org) was founded in 1998.
The continuing Mission of the group is to support personal safety, health and integrity
through Martial Arts and anti-violence instruction.
