Explaining the Proposed Federal Health Care Law
The League of Women Voters will be brought up to date on the proposed Federal Health Care Law by Nevada’s Director of the Office of Consumer Health Assistance Marilyn G. Wills at the League’s Saturday, March 17th meeting. The Office helps individuals resolve health disputes, locate health care services in our community plus helping with a multitude of health related problems facing Nevada residents today.
Wills said the office has been able to expand in the current economic downturn with the help of a federal grant to assist in explaining the new federal health care law to consumers. Nevada is one of 26 states in a lawsuit challenging the law, but until final legal determinations is made, the state is preparing for its implementation in 2014, she said.
The LWVLVV meeting will be held Saturday, March 17th at the Las Vegas Social Club adjacent to Main Street Station from 9 a.m. until noon with a breakfast charge of $20. For reservations and more information check out the League’s website www.lwvlasvegasvalley.org or phone (702) 464-7887.
