Over 7000 jobs to be filled in Las Vegas

A recent in-depth report conducted by the Rasmussen and Schoyen Think Tank entitled: "The Las Vegas job market in 2013 and beyond" reveals a market with many job opportunities, but not necessarily for everyone. The study, which was done on assignment for Las Vegas 2020, by futurists Christian Schoyen and Nils Rasmussen, reveals that there are many companies struggling to find qualified candidates and many job seekers not having ‘the right skill-set’.

A key part of the study was a survey, which was done in December 2012 and January 2013 with HR at the largest 100 employers in Clark County identifying over 7000 jobs to be filled in 2013. Its reason to believe that the number is considerably higher due to turnover or unexpected projects taken on requiring additional manpower. The findings reflect a strong majority of the jobs to be filled being in Hospitality (hotels), Gaming, Government (public sectors), and businesses working for/with these groups. The positions in highest demand are in education and sales (costumer service), followed by healthcare and IT. The breakdowns for 2013 based on those participating within the control survey for the largest 100 employers are as follows: Hotel staff (20%), Teachers (18%), Security personnel (10%), Sales (customer service reps) (10%, Drivers (8%), Technical (IT) (7%), Healthcare (6%), Construction (6%), Police (3%), Other (13%).

In conjunction with the report, which serves as a foundation for proposed re-training programs to improve the situation for job seekers in Clark County a free how-to-guide was created to assist in getting the over 7000 jobs identified in the study.
