Las Vegas, NV – Silver State Schools Credit Union is teaming up with the Clark County School District, 98.5 KLUC, the Desert Automotive Group, 8 News NOW, Walden University and the Orleans Arena to sponsor the 2011-2012 Drive for Excellence. This program acknowledges and rewards high school seniors with 3.7 GPA or higher through May 3, 2012, and no unexcused absences for the entire 2011-2012 school year.
All of those CCSD students who meet these criteria will be eligible to win the Grand Prize drawing to be held on June 7, 2012, for a new car – or a $10,000 college scholarship – donated by the Desert Automotive Group, along with other valuable prizes made possible by the program’s sponsors.
Now in its sixth year, the 2011-12 Drive for Excellence program will get the official green flag at an event on Monday, March 26, 2012, at the Northwest Career Technical Academy, beginning at 10 a.m. This will be the first of many events to be held at high schools across the valley to honor high-achieving students and show off the Grand Prize car. Also at this event will be several eligible students of the Drive for Excellence program. The showcase car for this series of events will be a new Mini Cooper, but the Grand Prize winning student may in fact have his or her choice of car from a selection that includes the Mini, a Honda Fit, VW Golf, Toyota Yaris, Scion xB, or a Nissan Versa. Or, if the student prefers, they may take the $10,000 college scholarship!

(While this event is not open to the public, members of the media are invited to attend. There will be interview opportunities from 11:25–11:55 a.m. with the various sponsors, and eligible students.)
