New App from Vegas-based Group Creates Support System for Active People

June 28, 2013 - LAS VEGAS, NV - Finally, active people have access to a support system and community of like-minded individuals, thanks to the free, new ActiveSide app - www.ActiveSide.com. It was designed specifically for active people to share experiences and tips about an amazing run, gym session or dozens of different sports. Unlike using an app or site that caters to the general public, this was crafted just for energetic people; using the “Cheer” button, users can offer encouragement for people talking about personal challenges or achievements, and pictures of gear or bruises are always welcome.

Whether it's about rock climbing, volleyball, walking, tennis, or swimming, for the very first time, people all around the world can easily connect over their universal love of a sport or pastime.

FIXING THE PROBLEM: WHAT NO ONE ELSE OFFERS

Fundamentally, ActiveSide gives users a whole new base of people they might not personally know, but have fun connecting with because of common activities.

But beyond that, the ActiveSide app fixes a common problem for active people: not everyone feels comfortable posting to facebook or twitter about their active lifestyle. Those without very active friends worry they’ll look like a braggart; others don’t want to give details uninteresting to people not in their sport.

“Before ActiveSide, there was no way for someone in a sport or hobby to connect so easily with others all around the world,” said ActiveSide’s CEO, Scott Giovanni. “You can enthusiastically ‘Cheer’ for people just like you, or even follow pro athletes who are sharing personal updates. This is the ideal way to let people know about a new trick from a magazine or show pictures of a sick new mountain biking trail.” Inspire and be inspired.

ABOUT THE COMPANY

ActiveSide is the result of an evolution of digital platforms by some Vegas-based guys who love being active. In 2007, they developed Tennis Habitat, a match-making hub for tennis players in Vegas. In 2009, Playersync was born: a website and mobile app matching players based on location, sport, and skill level. Soon it became clear Playersync’s users wanted more social involvement, so ActiveSide launched in 2013.

ActiveSide is advised by Jared Morgenstern, the former facebook Product Manager behind the LIKE button. This is his first project since leaving facebook.

CEO Scott Giovanni is available for interviews.
