HENDERSON, Nev. (August 14, 2013) – The Southern Nevada offices of Windermere Real Estate are poised to continue their annual tradition of community-focused volunteerism. The offices are accepting applications through the end of the month from organizations hoping to benefit from the company’s annual Community Service Day on Oct. 18, when Windermere offices close and employees engage in a daylong community service project together.
“Volunteering together is a great way to build relationships among our associates while making a difference in our community,” said Robyn Yates, owner/broker of Windermere Prestige Properties. “We want the best for our friends and neighbors, and this is how we can help make that happen.”
Nonprofits and philanthropic organizations can apply to receive a full day of volunteer work from the associates employed by the three local Windermere offices. Last year, approximately 50 volunteers distributed more than 700 pairs of shoes to students at Twin Lakes Elementary School, where a majority of the students are at or below the poverty level. The donation was funded by local Windermere agents who contributed a portion of their sales commissions to the Windermere Foundation. Other Community Service Day recipients have included SafeNest, Jaycee Seniors Community Center and St. Jude’s Ranch for Children.
Applicants must propose community service projects fulfilling specific requirements. The project must be large enough to accommodate 40 to 80 volunteers, it must be scheduled for Community Service Day on Friday, Oct. 18, and the project must be completed between 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Applications can be found at www.windermerelasvegas.com/community-service-day. They must be submitted to [email protected], or faxed to (702) 726-5510, by Aug. 31. Windermere will conduct an on-site interview with the finalists, and the recipient will be announced in early September.
Every year since 1984, Windermere associates have donated a day of work to complete neighborhood improvement projects.
“It’s amazing how people coming together on one day can changes lives,” Yates said. “We look forward to another successful community service project this year.”
