WellHealth Quality Care chosen as the Nevada Health CO-OP Star Program Provider
Las Vegas, Nevada— October 2, 2013 — Today the Nevada Health CO-OP announced that WellHealth Quality Care has been chosen as the physician network for their STAR DOCTORS network. The Nevada Health CO-OP (Consumer Owned – Operated Health Plan), is Nevada’s only member owned health plan and is one of three health insurers that will operate on the new Silver State Exchange beginning January 1, 2014, with pre-enrollment beginning October 1, 2013.
Made up of the area’s highest performing physicians, WellHealth provides the Nevada Health Co-Op with an accountable care model based on quality-centric principles that ensure proper patient care, while controlling costs.
“This is an incredible opportunity to provide Nevadans with quality based and true accountable care through the Nevada Health CO-OP STAR DOCTORS network. The CO-OP is taking a huge step forward toward improving health care in Nevada!” said Steven Keltie, President of Business Development and Marketing at WellHealth Quality Care.
This new and innovative health plan is expected to exceed 15,000 member lives by March of 2014!
Positive Patient Impact
Nevada Health CO-OP represents a new era in health care for our state. It represents an end to corporate indifference and it promises increased access, fairness, sustainability and, most importantly, quality.
WellHealth has been chosen as the foundation of the POS plan network, called the STAR DOCTORS network. Plans using this network will include the metal ‘tiers’ (Platinum, Gold, Silver, etc.) for plan designs that are the basis for the Insurance Exchange in Nevada. The STAR DOCTORS network will allow patients reduced copayments when compared to the traditional PPO network, and will focus on improving patient empowerment and outcomes.
“Healthcare hasn’t always been so complicated. In the beginning it was simple.” said Tom Zumtobel, CEO of the Nevada CO-OP, “Neighbors helped neighbors. It was about compassion. health insurance shouldn’t be so complicated, so daunting, so controversial. It should be personal, caring and once again, people helping people. This is what the partnership with WellHealth Quality Care will provide Nevadans.”
