Life After Active Duty to Host Veteran Centric Public Forum Q/A: 'The Value of Hiring Veterans'

Las Vegas, NV-Nov 24, 2013 - Life After Active Duty, the local nonprofit that supports veterans, specifically those from Iraq and Afghanistan, through the difficult reintegration from existing in a military-war environment to thriving in their community, will hold a public forum and Q/A discussion on the value of hiring military veterans and the contribution they make to the workplace.
The public forum, to be held on December 3, 2013, from 6:30pm-8:00pm at the West Charleston Library - Lecture Hall, will discuss the current job market and the hiring initiatives that corporations and local community organizations are introducing to assist military veterans during their transition to civilian employment. Additionally, the event will include a Q/A panel discussion featuring, Ross Bryant, Director of UNLV’s Office of Veteran Service and former commander of the UNLV Army ROTC, Steve Gregg, President of S. T. Gregg & Associates, Anand Aniar, Commissioner for the Southern Nevada Regional Housing Authority for the City of Henderson, and moderator Nathan Atkins, General Manager/Owner of Orange Theory Fitness.
The panel will discuss veteran hiring benefits, facts and statistics including:
• The role military veterans play in improving company culture
• Hiring initiatives created by companies to support a military veterans transition to civilian employment
• How companies can benefit from the knowledge, training, and experiences represented by those who have served in the military.
Founded in 2012, Life After Active Duty (LAAD) was created to advocate and help veterans focus on creating an enriched life after military service. LAAD’s key initiatives include direct support and training programs for veterans, and raising consciousness through education and community partnerships. LAAD offers a Life Enhancement Program, consisting of a unique 8-week immersion, training course designed to guide and assist veterans by addressing their challenges so that they can achieve success in the next phase of their lives.
