Michael Vannozzi Promoted to Director of Public Policy for the Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance

The Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance announced that Michael Vannozzi has been promoted from Manager of Strategic Initiatives to Director of Public Policy.

Since joining the Alliance in March, 2013, he has elevated LVGEA's role in public policy and research by fostering relationships with policymakers and leading the organization in public policy research. His work has ensured that LVGEA is leaning into matters important to economic development and the southern Nevada economy.

“In the last 13 months, Michael has done an exemplary job handling this organization’s strategic initiatives,” said Tom Skancke, CEO and president of LVGEA. “Public policy is such a critical element of the work we do here at the LVGEA, but it wasn’t always so. Just one year ago, LVGEA was still putting the final touches of the restructuring and building a strong base for the future. Michael was a part of that restructuring. LVGEA is now prepared to enter into economic development research and policy, and Michael is the right person to lead that effort and division. I'm glad he has accepted this challenge."

Prior to joining LVGEA, Vannozzi worked for U.S. Senator Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nevada) as Special Projects Manager. In this position, Vannozzi worked with local, state and federal leaders to affect various economic development goals. He also had a special focus on bringing new capital and expertise into the regional economy, and has worked with dozens of small businesses to meet their financial goals. Vannozzi specialized in K-12 education issues as Senator Reid’s point person in the education community. He has parlayed that expertise into his work at LVGEA, where he led the creation of the LVGEA Education Council, co-chaired by Glenn Christenson of Velstand Investments and Terri Janison of the United Way of Southern Nevada.
