Proposal to put more cabs on streets sparks uproar among drivers

The Nevada Taxicab Authority suspended its Tuesday meeting twice after dozens of cab drivers shouted down cab company owners requesting additional vehicles for next month's March Madness basketball tournament and NASCAR race.

Authority Chairwoman Ileana Drobkin led other members out of the meeting after Desert Cab's presentation on a request to add two additional cabs was overwhelmed by shouts of "No more cabs" by drivers attending the emotionally charged meeting.

Drobkin restarted the meeting five minutes later, but another outburst by drivers prompted another recess.
