    • Gray Line Worldwide, an international sightseeing company, selected Las Vegas-based AirBridge Tours as its new Gray Line Las Vegas licensee.

    • The Korte Company won the contract to build a five-story corporate headquarters for Ameristar. The $7-million, 86,850-square-foot project is located in the Hughes Center. Gensler is the architectural firm, and Cushman & Wakefield orchestrated the transaction. The project is expected to be completed by the end of summer.

    • Valley Electric Association Inc. of Pahrump won the 2012 “National Community Service Award for Energy Efficiency” from the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association, which represents 905 electric cooperatives nationwide. Valley Electric was recognized for its domestic solar water heating program.

    • Paragon Pools, a swimming pool and spa construction company, received a 2013 “Communitas Award” for its “Float Like A Duck” water safety campaign. The award was given by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals.

    • United Guaranty opened a new location in Las Vegas. The office houses a team of underwriters and loan registration staff. United Guaranty also has offices in Bellevue, Wash.; Oak Brook, Ill.; Greensboro, N.C., and Atlanta.

    • AJB General Contractor is remodeling a 6,130-square-foot commercial building and parking lot addition for a new Egg Works location on South Eastern Avenue. Established in 1988 as The Egg and I, the restaurant chain has three other Las Vegas locations.

    • VSR Industries produced and installed 1,200-plus slot bases and 14,000 high-security gaming locks at the new Solaire Resort in the Philippines. VSR has worked in the Asian gaming market for almost 10 years and has provided similar products for various properties under the Sands Gaming Corporation umbrella.

    • Arcata Associates Inc. and JT3 were selected as semifinalists for the “2013 Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award” from the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, a Department of Defense operational committee. The Freedom Award honors employers who provide extraordinary support to guard and reserve employees.

    • Business Valuations Ltd. announced it will open an office in Irvine, Calif. The company provides valuation and advisory services to companies and equity interests.

    • Pediped footwear, a children’s shoe company based in Henderson, will open its first shopping center store May 17 at Town Square. The 700-square-foot store will showcase 140 styles of shoes for boys and girls, newborn to age 8.

    • MGM Resorts International earned the top ranking on DiversityInc’s “Top 10 Regional Companies” list for diversity best practices. The magazine also named the corporation one of the “Top 10 Companies for Latinos.” This is the eighth consecutive year that DiversityInc has honored MGM Resorts for its Diversity and Inclusion Initiative. Additionally, several MGM Resorts properties were recongnized by travel website TripAdvisor as environmentally-friendly hotels. Twelve Strip properties were accepted into TripAdvisor’s new “GreenLeaders” program. Aria and Vdara each received a platinum designation, the highest achievement earned by fewer than 10 percent of participants. Gold designations went to the MGM Grand, Mirage, New York-New York, the Signature at MGM Grand, Bellagio, Monte Carlo and Mandalay Bay. Excalibur and the Luxor received silver designations, while Circus Circus earned a bronze.

    • Under a mutually agreed upon arrangement, Meadows Corporation, of Las Vegas, divested its ownership of Rutherford Investment Management, of Portland, Ore.

    • LAKA Manicure Express opened at Fashion Show Mall. The company donated 50 percent of its first day’s earning to the UNLV Foundation.
