Describe your business.

Rock the Tea is a venue for girls’ parties, with fun themes such as princess, rock star, create-a-bear and spa party. We also provide private play dates, camps, after-school programs and etiquette lessons.

Did you have party-planning experience before you started Rock the Tea?

Yes, my last job was director of special events for Mandalay Bay. I helped plan and execute casino marketing parties and events.

What makes your business unique?

Girls love options, so we offer many different options for our parties and are always striving to create something new and fun.

What is the most popular type of party you offer?

Our royal princess party is the most requested.

What types of classes and camps do you offer?

We offer etiquette classes and private play dates at our store. We are currently offering summer camp at Rock the Tea and at the Jewish Community Center in Summerlin. Our themes this summer are princess and fairy, little chef, art, theater, spa and video star camps. Our camps are half-day or full-day.

What is your business philosophy?

Good customer service. At Rock the Tea, we really take care of our customers. We have a lot of returning clients.

What’s the most important part of your job?

The most important part of my job is hiring and training good staff who will take care of our customers.

You also do some business online. Why?

Our store sells merchandise that you can’t find anywhere in Las Vegas. I attend a lot of conventions to find new vendors. Online sales are a good way to sell nationally.

What is the hardest part about doing business in Las Vegas?

My high electric bill in the summertime.

What is the best part about doing business in Las Vegas?

Everything is in close proximity in Las Vegas and customers come from all over the area, even from as far away as Pahrump. We also attract tourists to Rock the Tea.

What obstacles has your business overcome?

We opened our doors in 2009 during challenging economic times. We were able to successfully provide a luxury service even though customer disposable income was reduced. I’ve seen many businesses similar to Rock the Tea close their doors since we opened.

Where do you see your business in five years?

I’m looking to expand in Summerlin and then Henderson.
