The president of the Luxor and Excalibur is retiring next month, MGM Resorts International announced today.

Renee West, who MGM says was the first woman named president of a Strip resort, is retiring April 24. In addition to announcing her retirement, MGM also said it was promoting Nik Rytterstrom to general manager of the Luxor. He’ll join Ann Hoff, who was named general manager of the Excalibur last year.

West became president of both resorts in 2010. She began her career with MGM in 2000 as vice president of human resources for the Primm Valley resorts, and subsequently became president. She was promoted to president and chief operating officer of the Excalibur in 2005, then named to the same position at Mandalay Bay in 2009.

“For 15 exciting years, Renée has been a well-respected and pioneering leader within MGM Resorts International, our industry, and our community. She put her mark of excellence on everything she did. We will miss her,” said MGM chief operating officer Corey Sanders in a statement.

Rytterstrom comes to the Luxor after being general manager of MGM’s Goldstrike casino in Tunica, Miss. He’s been with MGM since July 1999, and has previously held positions at the Bellagio and Mirage as well as Beau Rivage in Biloxi, Miss.

Sanders credited Rytterstrom with helping Goldstrike achieve its highest market share in history for three straight years and “substantially increasing” guest service, employee engagement, quality assurance and corporate citizenship.
