Openings & Closings:

LVB Burgers and Bar opens at Mirage; Tivoli Village, The Park add eateries

BLT Burger inside the Mirage

There's a new burger bar at the Mirage.

MGM Resorts, operator of the Mirage, recently ended its contract with BLT Burger after eight years and replaced the restaurant with an eatery that the company owns and operates itself — LVB Burgers & Bar.

The move came after BLT Burger was shut down in mid-March by the Southern Nevada Health District for code violations, but MGM says the health issues were not related to the discontinuation of the contract. MGM said the contract was dissolved by mutual agreement.

LVB Burgers & Bar, which opened April 6, features such selections such as gourmet burgers and shakes created by Las Vegas chef Michael LaPlaca. The famed chef also operates the resort’s Portofino restaurant. The restaurant is open 11 a.m. to 2 a.m., Mondays through Thursdays and Sundays, and 11 a.m. to 4 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays.

Other openings in the Las Vegas Valley include:

Waffle Bar

Have a sweet tooth?

If so, Tivoli Village has welcomed a new restaurant, Waffle Bar, that may just satisfy your cravings.

The dessert cafe, located in the Market LV next to Brio, serves brioche-like waffles that can come as a pizza and savory crepes served with fresh fruits or meats, cheese and pesto.

Waffle Bar also offers vegetarian and gluten-free menu items.

The restaurant, at 420 S. Rampart Blvd., is open every day from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

California Pizza Kitchen

The more pizza joints, the merrier.

If you agree with that, you’re in for a treat. California Pizza Kitchen opened its sixth location in Las Vegas this month at The Park, between the Monte Carlo and New York-New York.

This restaurant offers a “next chapter” menu, complete with 20 specialty dishes just for the Park, as well as tapas-inspired plates for guests to share.

The location, at almost 8,000 square feet, contains an open kitchen so guests can watch their pizza being prepared.

Capriotti’s

Thirty-four. That’s how many Capriotti’s locations are in Las Vegas now that it has expanded to North Las Vegas.

The restaurant is well-known for its slow-roasted whole turkeys and its mouthwatering subs such as the Bobbie, which is made with homemade turkey, cranberry sauce, stuffing and mayo.

"We know our guests in North Las Vegas will make our latest location a success as we provide our hometown fans with even more opportunities to indulge in our delicious, handcrafted sandwiches,” CEO Ashley Morris said.

Capriotti’s first opened in 1976 and has since opened over 100 locations in the U.S.

The latest site is located at 2620 Nature Park Drive. It is open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays to Saturdays, and 11 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sundays.
