Layke Martin, an attorney and former assistant dean at UNLV’s law school, has been appointed executive director of the Nevada Dispensary Association.

The association represents most marijuana dispensaries in Nevada and works on public outreach, government affairs issues, encouraging industry cohesiveness and delivering educational resources to promote a safe, regulated cannabis industry.

Martin replaces the association’s former executive director, Riana Durrett, who served in the position from 2015 to this year.

“The NDA’s voice is one of credibility, and I look forward to maintaining that voice and to promoting a responsible, well-regulated, safe and business-friendly cannabis industry in Nevada,” Martin said in a statement.

A professor and native Nevadan, Martin is a graduate of UNLV and the Boston University School of Law.

She is the former assistant dean for external relations at the UNLV’s William S. Boyd School of Law, where she oversaw fundraising, communications, alumni relations, events, and the career development department.

Martin practiced business litigation for nearly five years with local law firm Marquis Aurbach Coffing.
