State Farm awarded $10,000 to FIRST Nevada, one of several Good Neighbor Citizenship grants FIRST Nevada has received from State Farm since 2016. To date, more than $45,000 has been received in support of the nonprofit organization’s science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics (STEAM) education programs. State Farm’s support enables FIRST Nevada to reach more students statewide and continue to provide engaging, hands-on, impactful education programs. 

HomeAid Southern Nevada, the official outreach partner of the Southern Nevada Home Builders Association, completed its second of four custom home renovations on the New Vista Ranch home site, benefiting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. HomeAid provided time and materials through in-kind donations from trade partners, and residential builder Shea Homes managed construction efforts for one of the four homes. In total, the renovations will cover nearly 3,000 square feet. HomeAid also completed its annual “Baby Essentials Drive” benefiting Southern Nevada nonprofits in need of baby supplies. With the help of industry partners and community members, HomeAid collected and donated nearly 7,000 diapers, 11,000 baby wipes, 1,200 ounces of baby formula and 130 baby bottles for Living Grace Homes and the Shade Tree.

Move 4 Less raised more than $9,000 for Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth through Kickoff for Kids, which supports the nonprofit organization and celebrates Las Vegas having a professional football team. Move 4 Less donated $500 for each Las Vegas Raiders win, and other funds based on game statistics for losses. the total contribution was $6,327. The community also was invited to participate. OS Construction gave $2,000; Hausbeck Brand, $500; and other individuals donated for a total of $9,042.

Toyota and Vegas Golden Knights teamed up with Project 150 to donate supplies for at-risk high school students. Local dealers filled a 2021 Toyota Sienna with $2,000 worth of nonperishable food and personal hygiene items.

The seventh annual Alyn Beck and Igor Soldo Memorial Scholarship was awarded to 12 teens of active-duty Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officers. The recipients, chosen from a pool of 60 applicants, will each receive a $5,000 scholarship to offset the costs of tuition, fees and books related to the college or vocational school of their choice.

Cox Las Vegas presented $35,000 in scholarships to 10 high school seniors in Clark County as part of its annual Cox Diversity Scholarship program in partnership with the Public Education Foundation and Southern Nevada-based diverse organizations. Cox has awarded $280,000 in diversity scholarships since 2014, including $3,500 each to the 2021 recipients.

Eden Group Home for Girls Inc., a nonprofit organization that encourages, supports and uplifts girls to become strong, productive and successful women through social and life skills, is seeking community support and donations including adequate housing, office and school equipment, food and transportation. 

Caesars Entertainment Inc. announced details of a $3.1 million donation to support vulnerable populations in the Las Vegas Valley, including underserved youth, people experiencing housing or food insecurity, persons with disabilities and more. Through funds collected from the company’s paid-parking garages, Caesars donated to nine organizations, including major gifts of $1 million each to St. Jude’s Ranch for Children and Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada. Other organizations include Clean the World, Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health, the Shade Tree, the Goodie Two Shoes Foundation, Kya’s Smiles Foundation, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Foundation and Special Olympics Nevada.

Nevada HAND Inc. was awarded $450,000 from NeighborWorks America, a congressionally chartered nonprofit organization, to support efforts to develop and preserve affordable housing, revitalize and sustain neighborhoods, and create jobs in Southern Nevada. 

The Rape Crisis Center announced a $5,000 grant from the BE A SHERO Foundation. The grant, part of the SHERO Affiliate Grant Program, was awarded during Sexual Assault Awareness Month and will be used to support center’s mission to offer hope, help and healing to those affected by sexual violence and exploitation.

Bristol Myers Squibb celebrated its five-year partnership with Make-A-Wish with a $500,000 contribution. The funds, given annually to Make-A-Wish since 2017, will continue to help grant wishes for children.
