Interstate-widening Project Neon attracts international bidders

Project Neon will widen Interstate 15 between the Spaghetti Bowl and Sahara Avenue and will add a new ramp to connect the U.S. 95 HOV lanes with the I-15 express lanes.

In June, the Nevada Department of Transportation decided to turn to private firms for financing, design, construction and maintenance of Project Neon. Now the Nevada Transportation Board is considering four proposals — including three that include companies from outside the U.S. — for the project.

Equipment change briefly leaves parts of downtown without power

A 13-minute power outage this morning in downtown Las Vegas shut down traffic lights and darkened businesses. Kelley Mulroy, an NV Energy spokesperson, said utility workers were changing out equipment and caused the outage, which began shortly before 9:30 a.m.
