Legal Aid Center Of Southern Nevada Inc

OUR MISSION
The mission of Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada is the preservation of access to justice and the provision of quality legal counsel, advice, and representation for individuals who are unable to protect their rights because they cannot afford an attorney. Clients include victims of domestic violence, child abuse, and consumer fraud. In 2016, we served over 133,000 people through all of our program.

OUR GOALS
Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada’s services continue to be in high demand. Our goals are to continue to expand our services to provide free legal resources and representation to those in need in our community, including victims of child abuse, elder exploitation, domestic violence and crime, and consumer fraud.

FUNDRAISING OPPORTUNITIES
Pro Bono Project Fundraiser: Each year, our office sponsors an event celebrating our mission and recognizing our standout volunteers. These volunteer attorneys are honored for their dedication to the community at our Annual Pro Bono Awards Luncheon & Fundraiser, which hosts over 750 attendees. For information on sponsorships or purchasing a table or tickets to this event, please contact [email protected].

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Pro Bono Project: For people who cannot afford to hire an attorney, access to justice can be out of reach. Legal Aid Center’s Pro Bono Project recruits attorneys to volunteer to represent low-income residents with their civil legal needs. This win-win proposition offers a meaningful volunteer experience for attorneys while providing professional, trustworthy legal services to clients who are in desperate need. To support volunteer attorneys in their work with us, we provide them with free CLE training, mentoring in areas of law outside their specialty, and malpractice insurance. If you are an attorney and have ever wanted to give something back to your community, we could use your help in the areas of divorce, custody, adoption, guardianship, bankruptcy, child abuse/neglect, civil fraud, landlord/tenant, foreclosure, and debt collection. Please contact [email protected] with any questions you may have.

Volunteer Education Advocate Program: There are many children in foster care attending Clark County School District schools who struggle academically, socially, and emotionally. Most of these children live in group homes where they lack an interested, involved adult. They need someone to advocate on their behalf with the passion of a parent — someone who understands their challenges and cares deeply about their success. Legal Aid Center is in need of volunteers to join our Volunteer Education Advocate Program to help our foster children envision a bright future. Please contact [email protected]
for more information.

GIVING OPPORTUNITIES
We are currently raising funds for the Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada Access to Justice Endowment. The Engelstad Family Foundation generously seeded the Endowment campaign with a challenge; for each dollar raised, the Engelstad Family Foundation will match it 2-for-1, up to $10,000,000.
